Seven Things Before 7am
I have become such a morning person, especially since starting my job. This probably has a lot to do with the insanely early mornings, but hey I am here for it. When I get an early start to the day I feel more energized and motivated to work out, get errands, done and spend time for myself. I absolutely hate that feeling of waking up stressed, in a rush, or not prepared for the day ahead. Waking is the most important part of your day and sets the tone for the next waking hours.
These are some things I have implemented in my life that make me feel accomplished, rejuvenated, and ready for the day ahead.
Skin Care: I start my day by washing my face, applying vitamin C serum, sunscreen, and then my favorite tinted moisturizer. Some of my favorites brands are neutrogena, skin ceuticals, and derma-e. I also enjoy using True Botanicals serums and cleansers.
Dog Walks: I am sure a lot of your can relate to this, once I am up you best believe the pups are too. We take a morning walk down the street or around the block. This seems to wake everyone up especially in the winter months.
Hydrate: Water, water, water my friends. I start each day with a large glass of water, before I even have my coffee! When I am busy throughout the day I find I do not drink enough so starting my day with a glass at least gets me off to a head start.
Coffee: After my hydration this is obviously next. I will say that this is THE most important and favorite part of my routine. I recently was given a Nespresso as an engagement gift and have been loving trying out the different coffees. I enjoy nothing more than days off where I can wake up slowly sipping my coffee, it is such a relaxing practice to me. I also sometimes opt to just go fo the classic pot of coffee and in that case I love Trader Joe’s selection.
Journal: This is a fairly newer practice of mine that I am trying to stay consistent with. I am currently working on trying to shift my mindset especially in the start of the day. I am typically a fairly type A person and find my mind running in the morning with all the things I need to get done. That is why I am practicing gratitude and a moment to slow down each morning and counting my blessings. This is still a habit in formation for me, but I definitely feel more fulfilled the mornings I do this.
Plan: Without further adieu I still need to write down my plan for the. I write down calls to make, errands to run, blog goals, CME topics, you name it! If it is a Sunday I also try to write down plans for the week ahead.
Workout: I prefer to exercise in the morning, but can only do this on the days I have off. I find an early workout fuels me for the day—that in combination with coffee and I am unstoppable haha. Seriously though, morning workouts are truly the best and set your tone for the day.
Rest up, wake up well, and feel grounded for your day friends.
