A Quick Note on Routine
Hi strangers! I am getting back to writing regularly after taking a bit of a hiatus. While I took some time off from writing simply because of a hectic schedule I realized that I really missed it. This has been an outlet for me to share medical research to encourage and cheer on all of you as you seek healthier ways of living. After spending the early spring reflecting, it made me truly realize the importance of routine and habits.
I have spoken about routines and habits endlessly, which you are well aware of if you have been following for quite a while. I saw the lapse of routine in my own life over the last two months which really made me reflect on the value of it in every day life. The past two months have been hectic with work schedules, travelling, and contemplating some big life changes (stay tuned for more info on that). While I have spent all this time researching and educating you all on the power and importance of routine, I myself have slipped. It made me realize that routine actually allows you to fill your life with things you WANT TO DO and are passionate about. Let me explain. . .
By having a set routine you get all of your tasks done—groceries, meal prep, working out, bills, cleaning— you know all the fun stuff. By planning in advance and creating a routine that turns into a habit you free up other time to do what you truly want to do. A routine allows creativity to enter your life. By creating a routine that you follow it becomes a habit and then your spare thoughts do not need to go into thinking “okay , what do I need to do next?” Instead, you operate on autopilot for the task-like things and free up mental space for creativity. The unconscious mind is a powerful thing and it is to your advantage to put as many things as possible on autopilot.
On that note, I am back and looking to bring more routine into my life and create habits that allow me to have an immense amount of self development. I hope I can encourage you to do the same.
