29 Lessons for 29 Years

Heading into the last year of my twenties feels incredibly weird. This past decade has gone fast, granted I have one more year. As I have continued through my twenties I have realized that the years seem to go faster. I imagine this trend will continue–the years and milestones flying by. My twenties were filled with hard work, joy, and resilience. I thought I would share lessons I learned along the way:

  5. Take care of your physical body with exercise now–it will only get harder later

  6. FOMO is overrated JOMO (joy of missing out) is the real MVP

  7. Towards the end of your twenties, you’ll be calling your parents more than they call you

  8. If you still have grandparents, make an effort to call and see them

  9. Toxic workplaces are the single worst thing for your mental health–leave

  12. Invest in the people that invest in you

  13. Now is your time to try new things professionally

  14. Take the risk – the vacation, job, investment

  15. You don’t need 20% to buy a home

  16. The person you decide to marry should be your best friend first

  17. If they wanted to they would

  18. Learn how to save money

  19. Spend money on your health before your nails and hair

  20. Confidence is a muscle, you have to use it or lose it

  21. A victim mindset will get you nowhere, you have to take control of your life

  22. It is okay to change your mind

  23. Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it buys you freedom and choices

  24. Your dog will be the best thing and biggest stressor (iykyk)

  25. You can follow your own timeline

  26. Done is better than perfect

  27. Routines are essential to feel and perform your best

  29. Invest in your people, at the end of the day we aren’t here for very long and tomorrow is not guaranteed, the people in our life are what matters
