House Plants

Beyond being trendy I truly believe some of us (myself included) have a true, possibly diagnose-able obsession with house plants. I have covered so many rooms and corners of my home with something green. May sound crazy I know, but these plants help me create MY space where I feel at home, comfortable, and relaxed.

There are numerous plants to choose, and some plants are let’s say fussier than others. Choosing the right spot in your home can make all the difference.

The Fiddle Leaf Fig

By far one of the trendiest indoor plants which I find interesting since they are very difficult to care for. At one point we under-watered, then over-watered, then something in between ended up working. These plants need plenty of sun, drainage of water, and an intricate watering system. These plants also tend to be expensive so def do your research prior to purchase and see if this would be a good fit in your home.

The Snake Plant

So so easy to care for. This plant acts almost like a succulent and can also tolerate a shady space. Our snake plant has grown tremendously without much of a hassle. I would still recommend placing a drainage container underneath the pot to collect extra water. Our snake plant actually flowered this past spring which was a very nice addition to the living room.

String of Pearls

These make for beautiful hanging plants. I have this plant set up in my bedroom, hanging from the ceiling. These plants like indirect light and only need to be watered about every 2 weeks. I will say they can grown fairly long so hanging from a high space such as a ceiling would be most optimal.

Aloe

Again, this is another very low maintenance plant to have in your home and it will grow like crazy. These plants like a lot of indirect sunlight and need watering every 2-3 weeks. More than a few times I have utilized this plant to treat my sunburn too!

I would recommend checking out a local indoor plant shop in your city for further suggestions on what to add to your space. Indoor plants add an immense amount of character and personality to a home. Many of them also provide health benefits such as helping to purify your air.
