Charming Charleston

Let me tell you, what an impression the south made! We did a quick 4 day road trip and had an incredible time. Below is our day by day itinerary, 10/10 would recommend.

Day 1

Morning: Breakfast at Black Tap Coffee. Waterfront park and White Point Gardens.

Afternoon: Upper King Walking Food Tour (~$65 per person with https://charlestonculinarytours.com/). This was such a highlight of our trip. The tour guide was amazing. We had a relatively small group (about 10 people). Gave us a good taste of the southern cuisine and hospitality!

Night: To be honest with you we were so full from the food tour we just went back to our air BNB and got to bed early to prepare for our next day of activities!

Day 2

Morning: Since this second day was a Saturday we checked out the Charleston Farmer’s Market. This was such a great way to start our morning, and we could bring Kona!

Afternoon: Kayaking was such a treat on day 2 because it gave us some excercise but also allowed us to see the natural beauty that surrounds the city. There are so many kayaking and boating companies to choose from in the area. We went with Charleston Outdoor Adventures and would definitely recommend.

Night: This evening was my favorite dinner of the trip. We ate at R Kitchen which is not as touristy as other locations in Charleston. One of my friends on clinical rotations recommended it to me. Essentially, you sit at a bar and 2 chefs cook a 5 course dinner for you….complete surprise as to what is on then menu. This was intimate and delicious. FYI we reserved our spot about 2 months in advance.

Day 3

Morning: Breakfast at Hominy Grill (all the breakfast southern comfort is available here!) The rest of the morning we strolled around downtown Charleston which was my ideal way to spend a Sunday morning.

Afternoon: Depart for Boone Hall Plantation. This plantation is a must see on your trip. It has such charm and history, this tour will not disappoint. While most of our time in Charleston was spent eating, we felt it was important to also explore some of the historical aspects of this city.

Night: After spending the afternoon at Boone Hall Plantation we went for dinner at Magnolia’s. This is one of the top restaurants in Charleston and the food was truly incredible. I specifically remember getting the filet and crab cake here…ahhmazing!

Day 4

Morning: We went on a morning stroll (with coffee in hand obv) to see the angel oak tree and the famous rainbow row.

Afternoon: The rest of the day was spent at Magnolia plantation which had an immense amount of grounds to cover! The landscaping was absolutely gorgeous here! We also brought Kona which was a special treat for her.

Night: Our most romantic dinner of the entire trip was at Husk. Hands down the BEST restaurant in Charleston and honestly one of the best restaurants I have been to period. The dinner menu is incredible and the cocktails are out of this world. Charleston is a must for fellow foodies like myself. We did not have a single bad meal during our entire stay.
